For 20 years, Pro Bono Partnership has provided high-quality pro bono transactional legal assistance to community-based nonprofits in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Our diverse client base includes organizations from all segments of the nonprofit sector – affordable housing, domestic violence prevention and support, mental health services, child care, veterans’ causes, animal rights, the environment, the arts and education.

We assist our clients with a wide variety of non-litigation legal issues, including contract, corporate, employment, intellectual property, real estate, and tax matters. In 2017, the Partnership’s staff attorneys and volunteers from major law firms and corporations helped more than 700 nonprofits on a variety of legal matters, with the multiplier effect of positively impacting the lives of the thousands of individuals whom these organizations serve.

Position Description

The Partnership is seeking a Pro Bono Manager to manage its pro bono program.
Key responsibilities include assisting with cultivation and management of the Partnership’s relationships with corporations and law firms; recruiting volunteer attorneys to assist the Partnership’s clients; placing individual pro bono matters with volunteers; making regular presentations about the Partnership’s work; assisting with the development of pro bono recruitment and training materials; coordinating volunteer recognition activities; preparing statistical reports; supervising the Pro Bono Coordinator; and developing strategies to improve the Partnership’s pro bono program.


  • A bachelor’s degree;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a careful attention to detail;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent public speaking skills;
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs;
  • The ability to prioritize competing obligations and meet deadlines; and
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred but not required: Prior experience working in a legal setting as an attorney or paralegal or prior experience working in a corporate social responsibility program.
