Meredith Morgan

Meredith Morgan is an associate at the New York-based law firm Zukerman Gore Brandeis & Crossman, LLP, and has been a Pro Bono Partnership volunteer since 2019. Eager to continue her pro bono work during the current health crisis, Meredith was looking for “an opportunity to help alleviate the early impact of COVID-19 on New Yorkers,” and quickly offered to help when the Partnership, on behalf of a nonprofit client, asked for assistance.

Our volunteers, just like our nonprofit clients, have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with action and continued dedication to serving our communities during this difficult time. One such client, Docs for Tots, a pediatrician-led nonprofit that promotes early childhood outcomes by working with doctors and policymakers to improve children’s health through policy innovation and practice transformation, came to PBP in April seeking assistance drafting a fiscal sponsorship to help provide emergency diapers and other baby essentials. Meredith, with the support of attorneys and staff at Zukerman Gore, was able to quickly draft a comprehensive fiscal sponsorship document allowing Docs for Tots to sponsor another organization serving the immediate needs of local families. Meredith’s ability to call on her colleagues for support was critical to the success of this matter. Meredith noted, “I am lucky enough to have co-workers with a diverse array of expertise. If your colleagues are like mine, you may learn that they are just as interested as you in finding pro bono opportunities, and the Partnership makes that process easier. Assembling a team can give the client access to a valuable range of expertise. In addition, it can make pro bono projects more manageable — many hands make light work, as the old saying goes.”

With the help of Meredith, Zukerman Gore, and the many other volunteers who have supported our COVID-19 work, the Partnership has assisted nonprofit clients with 240 legal matters and nearly 600 resource calls directly related to COVID-19. The Partnership and our clients are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication of all of our volunteers, like Meredith and the Zukerman Gore team, who support pro bono work under both typical and extraordinary circumstances.
