Bob Chesler, Anderson Kill

Bob Chesler, a partner practicing at Anderson Kill’s Newark office, along with associate John Lacey, recently secured an important result for Pro Bono Partnership client Family Promise of Hunterdon County, Inc. (“Family Promise”). Family Promise strives to end homelessness by mobilizing the community to guide homeless families and individuals to self-sufficiency and permanent housing with compassionate care, services, and professional support.

Family Promise contacted Pro Bono Partnership for advice regarding its rights and obligations regarding a rental agreement and insurance coverage for a truck that incurred roof damage allegedly caused by one of Family Promise’s clients. Bob has been one of our “go to” insurance volunteers since he began volunteering with the Partnership in 2007, and we were thrilled when he and John volunteered to assist Family Promise.

Christine Michelle Duffy, Pro Bono Partnership New Jersey Program Director, noted that insurance and rental agreements can be difficult for both lawyers and non-lawyers to understand. “Thankfully, we have wonderful volunteers, such as Bob and John, who are willing to donate their time to decipher the convoluted and arcane terminology for our nonprofit clients so that they can gain some leverage when dealing with insurers and rental car agencies.”

Pro Bono Partnership and our clients are extremely grateful to Bob and John for their willingness to help level the playing field for nonprofits with their expert and timely advice.
