Below is a correction and a brief update to last week’s Legal Alert about the new NYS Department of State reporting requirements:
- Our 1/14/21 Legal Alert noted that the filing requirement relates to groups that: (a) are registered or are required to be registered with the NYS Charities Bureau; (b) file an annual CHAR 500 report with the Charities Bureau; and (c) have total revenue and support exceeding $750,000. The correct amount referenced in (c) is total revenue and support in any fiscal year of at least $250,000.
- The NYS Department of State has updated their website with a brief summary of this new requirement, which you can find here.
We will continue to provide additional information on these new filing requirements as they become available.
