How does this happen? How, in 2020 America, are basic human rights still not applicable to everyone?

Pro Bono Partnership is not an expert on combatting systemic racism, or fighting for equality and justice, but many of our nonprofit clients are. We support them by providing legal services and educational resources that enable them to focus on their mission, and we stand with them in their quest to lift up our society and make our neighborhoods places where we all feel safe to live and work.

We are appalled and heartbroken at the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, adding to the tragic totals over the decades and centuries. We have learned so much from our clients about the heavy burden of institutionalized racism and oppression, including the disproportionate impact the pandemic has had on communities of color. We see every day the difference access to justice and education can make.

We will strive to encourage more of these conversations, not only with the organizations we serve, but also within our own organization. We hope to provide our clients, our staff, and our volunteers with a place to raise these issues with us and help us evolve our programs to better support human rights. To that end, please reach out to me directly if you have suggestions, concerns, or would like to start a dialogue.

In solidarity,
