December 5, 2016 — The New York State minimum wage will increase on December 31, 2016, as follows:
- For employers in New York City with 10 or fewer employees, the new minimum wage will be $10.50/ hour;
- For employers in New York City with 11 or more employees, the new minimum wage will be $11/hour;
- For employers in Suffolk, Nassau and Westchester Counties, the new minimum wage will be $10/hour; and
- For employers outside of New York City, Suffolk County, Nassau County and Westchester County, the new minimum wage will be $9.70/ hour.
- The minimum wage will increase every year through at least 2021, so employers are advised to keep that mind when assessing salaries.
