On May 28, 2019, Governor Lamont signed into law Public Act 19-4: An Act Increasing the Minimum Fair Wage. This Act provides, in part, for the gradual increase of the State’s minimum wage over five years to $15.00 per hour by June 1, 2023.

Effective Date New State Minimum Fair Wage
October 1, 2019 $11.00 / hour
September 1, 2020 $12.00 / hour
August 1, 2021 $13.00 / hour
July 1, 2022 $14.00 / hour
June 1, 2023 $15.00 / hour

Nothing in Public Act 19-4 alters employer requirements to comply with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

What Employers Should Do Now:

  • Review payroll records to ensure that qualifying employees are receiving pay raises to at least the new minimum fair wage of $12.00 / hour as of September 1, 2020.
