New Jersey:  Partnership Volunteers May Be Eligible for Exemption from Mandatory Pro Bono Assignments

The Partnership is an approved legal service provider for the state of New Jersey.  As such, attorneys admitted to the New Jersey bar who volunteer through the Partnership may qualify for exemption from mandatory pro bono assignments.

Attorneys who provide 25 hours of volunteer service in one calendar year to the Partnership may claim exemption from mandatory court-appointed pro bono assignments in the following year.  Qualifying Partnership volunteers should request the exemption on the annual pro bono questionnaire (part of the annual online attorney registration) and certify the details of the work they performed.  Assuming you have shared your hours with us, the Partnership can verify your pro bono service upon request.   For more information, click here.

New York:  Partnership Volunteers Can Receive CLE Credits

The Pro Bono Partnership is an approved Pro Bono CLE Provider in New York State.  Attorneys who provide pro bono legal service through the Partnership for nonprofit clients in New York can receive up to six New York CLE credits every two years.  Newly admitted attorneys are eligible to earn pro bono CLE credits, but must carry over such credits to their second biennial reporting cycle.

The New York CLE Rules require attorneys to submit an affirmation to the Partnership that includes a description of the services and the number of hours spent on the project.  We are happy to provide interested attorneys with a form affirmation and letter of participation.  You must also retain your time records for four years.
