EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES AUDIT CHECKLIST
The following is a checklist of the types of materials that should be collected and considered for review when performing an employment practices audit. Frequent audits will assist organizations in taking the proactive measures outlined in this Employment Law Manual, and are recommended for all organizations with employees.
· Job notices, announcements, recruiting brochures, and advertising materials.
· Employment applications.
· All employment selection methods, including interview checklists, written tests, and other objective and subjective criteria.
· Letters offering employment.
· Individual employment agreements.
· Job descriptions.
· Employee and supervisory manuals, handbooks, and other directives or policy statements, such as memoranda concerning sexual harassment, drug testing, maternity leaves, etc.
· Performance plans and appraisals; warnings, memos counseling, or disciplining employees.
· Personnel files.
· Collective bargaining agreements.
· Forms used in terminating employees.
· Posted materials related to employment.
· Payroll records.
· Employee benefit plans and summary plan descriptions.
· The terms of any government grants or contracts related to employees.
· Reports and forms filed with administrative agencies, such as Affirmative Action Plans, EEO-1 reports and I-9 forms.
· Charges, grievances, and lawsuits.
· Consent decrees, conciliation agreements, or other settlements.
· Previous audit reports.
