Deputy Director
Pro Bono Partnership (New Jersey Program)
The Pro Bono Partnership is a tax-exempt public
charity with expertise in the areas of law as they affect nonprofit and
tax-exempt organizations. The Partnership’s small legal staff and large corps
of committed volunteers provide free legal services to community-based
organizations located in suburban New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, working
primarily in the areas of health and human services, affordable housing and
neighborhood revitalization. The New Jersey-based Deputy Director will be in
charge of the day-to-day operations of the Partnership’s New Jersey
office, and for meeting program goals set on a regular basis by the
organization. He or she will report directly to the Executive Director. This
position offers the opportunity to work with corporate legal departments and law
firms, as well as charitable organizations that are providing vital services to
poor and underserved populations.
Major responsibilities of this position
include:

Overseeing the day-to-day activities
of the Partnership’s New Jersey office and programs;

Exercising
professional oversight over all legal work done by staff and volunteers;

Providing direct representation to the
Partnership’s not for profit clients;

Conducting client outreach to the New
Jersey nonprofit community and managing client relationships;

Recruiting volunteers from corporate
legal departments and private law firms in New Jersey;

Overseeing and actively participating
in drafting publications and creating and presenting workshops on legal topics
relevant to the New Jersey nonprofit sector and our volunteers;

Meeting with funders, public officials
and others to publicize and promote the Partnership;

Participating with senior management
in ongoing program evaluation, strategic planning and marketing.
Qualifications for this position include significant experience in nonprofit law
and/or one or more business law disciplines such as employment, corporate, tax,
finance or intellectual property law. An enthusiasm and capacity for promoting
pro bono work by the corporate and private bar is required. Also, the
successful candidate must be a member of the New Jersey bar. Experience in
management issues impacting nonprofit corporations is a major advantage.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits including
