Pro Bono Partnership
Honored by NJ Homeless Alliance
The New Jersey Alliance for
the Homeless (NJAH) honored Pro Bono Partnership on November 8, 2002 at
its Third Annual Conference “Ending Homelessness in Ten Years: Stepping Up to
the Challenge.” The NJAH, an alliance of individuals and community organizations
working together to end homelessness, recognized the Pro Bono Partnership
for its work through volunteer attorneys to strengthen the capacity of New
Jersey organizations that work on behalf of homeless families and children.
The Pro
Bono Partnership
is a legal resource center that
coordinates
volunteer lawyers to provide
free business legal services
to
community-based
nonprofit organizations serving the poor and disadvantaged populations in New
Jersey, Westchester County, New York and Fairfield County, Connecticut. The
Partnership’s clients work primarily in the areas of health and human
services, affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization and economic
development.
“The
Pro Bono Partnership has been instrumental in assisting several NJAH member
organizations as well as NJAH itself with legal issues.” Explained Sandy
Accomando, NJAH Chairperson and CEO of The Apostles House and St. James
Community Development Center. “By providing free legal advice to non-profits in
New Jersey, the Pro Bono Partnership has helped us further our missions
to deliver quality services and provide affordable housing opportunities to
persons and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness all across New
Jersey.”
